Bio

Donna Harp Ziegenfuss, is an Associate Librarian in Undergraduate and Graduate Services in the J. Willard Marriott Library at the University of Utah. She earned an Ed.D. in Academic Leadership/Higher Education and an MS degree in Applied Technology/Instructional Design. Dr. Ziegenfuss has over 10 years of experience working in academic libraries, 12 years teaching in traditional, hybrid, and online formats, and 15 years of experience working in the area of faculty and professional development. My research interests focus on library and technology-based instructional planning and course design, assessment topics, academic leadership, and qualitative research. As a qualitative researcher, I am interested in understanding how dispositions impact student success, as well as how conceptual change theory can be applied to developing reflective and engaged teachers. My research draws on a scholarly but applied research approach to course/curriculum design and online learning and investigates how adults learn, how effective curriculum design impacts student learning, and how a more holistic approach to understanding learning might impact student success. I am especially interested in the teaching to learning paradigm shift with a focus on active and inquiry-based learning, as well as, exploring new teaching and learning environments.
