Abstract: With the fast growth of data science in recent years, students from a wide range of backgrounds are becoming interested in Biomedical Informatics. Informatics educational programs now face the challenge of providing the necessary educational support to students with very different strengths and needs. The author presents his experience in coming to Informatics from an extremely different field, music, and what lessons both his challenges and successes can offer for the future of informatics education.
